Hello to all and/or Dr. Hammerschlag~~ (This is my first surf to the website--hello.) I was wondering if you might be able to give me a quick off-the-top-of-your-head answer to what your suggestion for a good medical education would be (coming from the idea that we are all commonly medically-alternative-minded). I am thus far unschooled in any medical degrees, but I have a high interest and accumulated knowledge in natural and alternative medicines (esp. in the areas of bodywork, true nutrition, holistic practices, and on and on.) I have been considering Naturopathic degree programs and am essentially in that camp; but, being throuroughly activist and alternative-spirited already, I also am beginning to have a strange bent towards the idea of going out for a "regular" M.D. degree--with the idea that I will already have a unique and perhaps difficult path cut out for me (that I doubt I will be easily strayed from), and perhaps could use the added features of a so-far more widely-normalized degree and the ability to be able to fully diagnose, treat patients as primary care physician, etc. And obviously, living in Indiana, I have the medical university here as a (relatively) viable option. What would your suggestions for someone such as myself (who is yet unschooled medically) be; and/or do you know of any specific institutions or schools that would teach in a more friendly manner towards differnt kinds of healing philosophies? I'm just starting out on all this. Thanks~~ R.M.
