It was great to not only read, but hear your Schlagbyte.

How are we doing? Tomorrow is my beautiful princess GiHea's (pronounced G HAY) 10th birthday. We are in SO. Calf. visiting the spiritual centers of Legoland, San Diego Wildlife Park and Disneyland. I may not have mentioned in the past, that she has Down's Syndrome. She was born with Bilateral Pneumothorax and was on life support for her first 13 days. We struggled with 'pulling the plug' with her after we heard that after 13 days of O2 causes permanent brain damage and blindness.

On her 13th day, we brought our priest to San
Francisco and the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit to have her baptised and possibly 'pulling the plug'. It was a totally silent ride to SF.

The MIRACLE occured on that very day. When we arrived, one of her chest tubes had been removed. My wife collapsed, thinking that she was passing away. Rather than passing away, she had turned the corner and was recovering and would survive.

I have, since that day, supported the Blind Babies Foundation of SF. This was formed by theater workers around 1950-51 in response to newborns who had been born prematurely and jput on full oxygen (O2)and abandoned in dark theaters of SF. At that time medicine had not recognized that they were permanently damaged after 13 days of pure O2 therapy.

So what does this have to do with "Poison Pens..."?

I had been in recovery from Cocaine abuse and addiction since 1982. About six months after my daughter's birth, I had a one night relapse with Cocaine.

I noticed the following phrase from your article regarding how Blair '...he whines and points the finger of BLAME at everyone in the New York Times organization, Johnnie Walker Black, cocaine, and society.'

After the one night relapse,I immediately and vigorously reentered recovery.

I had rediscovered that I am fully and totally personally responsible for my addiction. Not only am I personally responsible for my addiction, I am fully and totally accountable for my recovery. I cannot BLAME society, Johnny Walker Black (or Red), cocaine, society or my daughter's Diagnosis for my addiction and recovery or failure to recover.

It wasn't until I accepted this responsibility AND accountability was I able to begin a continuous and vibrant recovery. A spiritually based, one day at a time, fully committed to staying sober the rest of my life (doing it one day at a time) recovery

A good friend of mine, who was extremely wealthy, had all the toys: Ferrari, Lexus SUV, Mazda RX7, oversized Chevy pickup, Mansion in the hills and would never had to work again. Was found standing at his kitchen sink, wine bottle in one hand, cork screw (high end) in the other hand DEAD.

Religion is for people who don't want to go to HELL. Spirituality is for people who have already been THERE!!

I Pray for Mr Blair, if he continues to blame others for his 'condtion' it is my opinion that he has a very poor chance of recovery and like my friend who had "everything" a good chance of a lonely and sad death in the midst of plenty.
