Carl,

I was very sorry to hear of your loss (and my condolences to Elaine, as well). I recently facilitated a meeting with a group of architects, held at a local church designed by one of our staff. The building was a small chapel, built to honor the lives of children who had been lost by their community.

While the Celtic dedication enscribed in the garden's prayer circle was meant for the memory of youth, it seemed appropriate as a prayer to mothers as well.

Please accept its sharing as my healing blessing for you:

Hear, love, enfold
Above the winds, hear me
On lonely isle, love me
On dark night, enfold me
God of all hearing
God of all loving
God of all enfolding
Hear, love, enfold

In the Buddhist tradition, I will say this prayer for your Ma on each of the 49 days from her passing.
