Happy Birthday.
I lived in Flushing and I also listened to The Lone Ranger and The Shadow. The depression bonded us as a community. Our door was always open. During the cold winter I would watch the WPA workers building our road. The laborers were Italian and Polish and Irish.
When they stopped for lunch around the fire that they built in an empty oil drum, we sat on snow covered piles of cobblestone and they shared their lunch with this little five year old kid. Thanks for the reminder. Phil
