Hear! Hear!...I agree completely...and I saw that arrogance you talked about from the NBA players who opted out of the olympics, up close a couple of years ago going through the Atlanta Airport in the form of one Mr. Ewing.

I'd spotted him just ahead of me and I walked up beside him, looked up into the clouds, offered my hand and he shook it without any facial expression as I told him I was glad I'd had a chance to meet him. I peeled off to go to the men's room and when I came back out, I saw a young boy about 10 yrs old running down the corrider with paper and pen in hand. I knew he had seen the great NBA NY Knicks center and wanted an autograph.

As I neared my gate at the end of the A concourse, I spotted this same young man walking back past me with his head down and figured he'd just missed Ewing. When I got to the gate, I asked the two Delta employees behind the counter if they'd seen John Ewing...one of them piped up and said, "Yea, we saw that SOB" (except he didn't spell it out). I asked about the comment and he told me how that kid I'd seen had approached JE for an autograph and the multi-millionaire'd SOB brushed the kid off with, "I'm not giving autographs today".

What DAY is right for him...we know that someDAY when he's old and the applause has ceased, he'll be begging for someone to say a kind word to him. And what if everytime he'd played we had all said, "I'm not watching basketball toDAY".

If it weren't for the talents God has given him & his living in this country full of sports fanatics, who knows, he might just be another schmuck like the rest of us.
