I totally agree with you on all counts. The commitment that most of these athletes make to their sport is unbelievable. I encountered a talk radio show this week that spoke of the olympics and did one of the most appalling things I have ever heard.
The two talk show hosts decided to play a game at which time they would give the listener two names, one the name of an olympic athlete and the other the name of a fungus and the listener had to distinguish between the two! I don't think I have ever heard anything so culturally insensitive in my life. Are people so uncomfortable with differences that they must go so low! It was truly bothersome. Apparently all of us must be John Doe!!!!
