Teachers who are well-qualified and well-educated are leaving the field due to the abuse (verbal and sometimes even physical) that they must endure. Profanity is a daily part of high school students' lives, and we have almost become immune to its effects. High school teachers who try to uphold any kind of standards are criticized for "not understanding adolescent behavior." When are we going to wake up and realize that schools need to stop pandering to parents and stand up for what is right.
