Prayer?

I have a long history with "prayer" with a minister sister and father, and missionary sister.

This thing with prayer puzzles me since I don't see how it is any different than any other placebo effect. I really dislike the idea of calling it making a connection to some healing energy as it suggests something outside. It opens the door to spending government money on the "alien beams" that are "making me sick/well."

What your essay brings back to me is the needed to understand the "placebo effect" or more specifically, the power our minds have over our bodies. The placebo effect and biofeedback studies have shown that we have much greater "control" over our bodies than we have "control of."

What is incredable to me is that there is so little active interest in this. (Drug company conspiracy?)
