I don't understand why the teacher had to go to court. Where was the school principal? Where was the school board? It is no wonder that the low pay and lack of support are driving the good teachers away, and making our schools a wasteland.

The good thing is, kids like this are a minority. I am impressed with the caliber of students in my daughter's high school. Bad behavior also wastes the time of the good kids, and should not be tolerated.

Peer groups are used in my daughter's school to mediate, and I would like to think that this young man would be harshly dealt with by his peers.Parents also must support the teachers. All of us must work together to uphold standards of behavior. No teacher should have to put up with this kind of abuse.
