went to an interesting presentation on this topic. We get to he point where we believe that the medicated self is the "real" self. Hawking, when offered a newer, better vioce synthesizer turned in down because the "new" voice would not be "his" voice. Several others who use voice synthesizers have taken the same stance.

The ads for meds imply that the medicated self "makes me feel like myself again."
