I, too, have a nine-year-old grandson. Unlike you, I cannot imagine arming seven children that age with slingshots, but then, as a female, perhaps I am just more protective in ways I don't have to be.
But....as I read the sentence "We shot at signs and bottles while running, jumping and twisting" - could not help but wonder if you cleaned up after yourself as good stewards of our natural environment and by way of teaching young boys the importance of leaving nature in the pristine manner in which they found it. Knowing your respect for the planet, I am sure you did, but had to ask.
