In the last presidential elections, a vast number of voters (although not the majority) sent Bush and Cheney to the White House. This time around I shudder to think that they will be sent back by a clear majority of voters. Perhaps we're getting what we deserve in this country: unscrupulous politicians guided by an overwhelming need to take care of number one, viz. themselves. But doesn't this say more about the people in this country than about the politicians we allow to govern us

Almost four years ago the Supreme Court coopted the American people into installing Bush/Cheney in the White House. We've all witnessed what has happened since: we now live in an isolated country, despised throughout the world, a country where the rich feel more and more comfortable in exploiting the poor, a country that is increasingly fundamental in its religious beliefs and thus embracing separateness as opposed to unity. It's quite sad to thing that in the next presidential election this same misguided gang will lead the country with a clear majority of American voters on their side. Perhaps we're getting what we deserve, not only in health care but in life in general.
