I am a Hospice nurse and what bothers me the most about this case is the fact that Terri has not been allowed to have communion. I have seen our Chaplains administer Host to many unresponsive patients.
I don't know Terri's religous background, but Religion and Spirituality are vital components at the end of life.
My heart also goes out to Terri's husband and parents. It is a decision I hope I never have to make, that's why I've made out my POA for healthcare and as a gift to my family we all worked on them as a Christmas gift to each other.
