This comes down to a basic human rights issue for me. If we are not in control of our own bodies, then we are NOT FREE. Deciding that someone's spirit must stay trapped in a brain and body that is not working, is a decision that everyone should make for himself or herself. No government should choose for you.

I am like you, I do not wish to be trapped in a life that cannot experience love and joy. THAT IS NOT LIVING. I am now moved to make a document to give to my friends and family that make my wishes plain. This is the lesson to be learned here. Not that it should be a certain way, but that YOU MUST SAY, and then be sure the people in your life KNOW your wishes.

I applaud Terri's husband for having the courage to stand up for her. I do not understand her parents allowing her to be used by the self-serving politicians whose only motivation was to make themselves look good. I am very sorry for their pain, and I understand how devastating it would be to lose a child. But they have to see that Terry was lost to them a long time ago. I think they have to let her go in peace.
